Public Transportations to Borobudur: From Malioboro and 4 Additional Departure Points in Jogja
Borobudur is only 40 kilometres away-equal to 1-hour ride-from Malioboro. But if you choose to take public transport, it will take you around 2-3 hours to get there, depending on the departure time and traffic requirement.
You can select either DAMRI bicycles or regular buses to reach Borobudur Temple. DAMRI (Indonesian state-owned public transit bus company) buses are all equipped with AC. In contrast, the normal ones are cheaper but include no AC.
Here some information on how to get on these People transportations, the Deliveries, operating hours, and the Passing Program from 4 Stains Malioboro:
- FROM ADISUTJIPTO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TO BOROBUDUR
DAMRI delivers a path taking passengers from Adisutjipto Airport into Borobudur. DAMRI buses are categorized as PATAS (cepat dan terbatas/Express), which means that they only stop at the designated spots and are outfitted with AC. DAMRI tickets can be bought in a counter near this airport’s northern parking lot (phone: 0877 3964 8492).
The shuttle bus will take passengers into a place not far from Borobudur Temple, so they will not need to take another transportation mode. In the future, they can come back to the identical spot to where they came from.
- DAMRI BUS’ ROUTE FROM TUGU TRAIN STATION
DAMRI provides a path taking passengers from Tugu Station to Borobudur. DAMRI tickets can be bought at a counter near the train station’s exit close to the countertops of the Special Region of Yogyakarta’s Office of Tourism (phone: 0877 3837 7950).
- FROM GIWANGAN BUS STATION TO BOROBUDUR
Just two regular buses are operating both Terminal Giwangan and Jombor Bus Station into Borobudur routes: Cemara Tunggal (11 units) and Ragil Kuning (5 units). These buses usually have the writing’ Jogja – Jombor – Borobudur’ written in their side windows.
As long after arriving at Giwangan Bus Station, the bus will leave to Jombor Bus Station via western Ring Road. Sadly, the seats are narrow and might cause distress for those taller than 170 cm. What’s more, none of the leaders talk English.
All these buses will stop at Borobudur Terminal Station, situated less or more 1.4 km in the temple’s entrance. Passengers will have many options. They can walk for around 20 minutes or use an ojek (motorcycle taxi) for Rp10,000. Or maybe you can ride a becak (pedicab) capable of carrying two individuals to get Rp10,000 or riding a Delman (horse cart to get four men ) to get Rp20,000.
- FROM JOMBOR BUS STATION TO BOROBUDUR
The buses taking passengers from Jombor into Borobudur are the same as the ones travel out of Giwangan Bus Station into Borobudur. So they share precisely the same path, armada, working hours, and departure schedule.
- FROM MALIOBORO TO BOROBUDUR
There aren’t any dedicated avenues to choose passengers from Malioboro to Borobudur. One of the best choices is to walk into Tugu Train Station (Tugu Station) and then take a DAMRI bus to Borobudur. But, no buses have been scheduled to journey out of Tugu Train Station into Borobudur between 8 am, and 11 am. During this time frame, passengers’ alternative option will be to take a 1A Trans Jogja bus to Adisutjipto International Airport. Then a DAMRI bus can take them to Borobudur with hourly departures from 7 am to 9 pm.
